Big Spring, TX (August 21, 2020) – A motor vehicle accident reported in the Big Spring area claimed one victim’s life on Tuesday evening. Just before 7:40 p.m., on August 18, the police in Big Spring responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on West Highway 80.

Reports provided by local news sources show that 61-year-old Randall Lewis was riding a motorized scooter through the 3100 block of Highway 80 when he was struck by a vehicle. Lewis was critically injured in the accident. Lewis was transported to Scenic Mountain Medical Center for treatment immediately following the accident. He was later rushed to University Medical Center for further treatment of injuries. Authorities confirmed that Lewis succumbed to his injuries after arriving. The driver of the vehicle, Willie Gray, fled the scene of the crash. He later surrendered himself to the police department and was charged with manslaughter. At this time, the circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation with the Big Spring Police Department.
