Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Texas
Each year, more than 600 pedestrians are fatally injured in traffic-related incidents throughout the state of Texas. Although these accidents are preventable and lawmakers are constantly enacting laws and imposing rules to protect those traveling on foot, we continue to see them victimized at an alarming rate. Statistics show that around 80% of all fatal collisions are a result of driver error. When drivers are intoxicated, distracted, or engaging in reckless behaviors while driving, they place others at extraordinary risk of being harmed.
Around 17% of those killed in traffic-related incidents throughout our state are pedestrians. These preventable accidents continue to cause overwhelming mental and emotional suffering for families who are forced to endure the consequences of losing loved ones unexpectedly. Not only are families forced to experience overwhelming mental and emotional pain and suffering after an unexpected loss, but they are often forced to spend tens of thousands of dollars on funerals while dealing with lost earnings and other financial burdens.
